Inspiring Story:
Five-year-old Alec sat down next to Ray, a quiet older gentleman spending the day at Generations Crossing. Alec’s class from the Early Learning Center had come to bake apple pies for the Fall Festival. Alec immediately noticed that Ray has an artificial leg and uses a wheelchair. Being a typical five-year-old, he began to ask questions.
“Does your leg have skin like mine?” he asked.
“No,” Ray answered.
“Does your leg feel like mine?” Alec asked
“No,” Ray replied.
“Does your leg bend like mine?” Alec asked.
Ray shook his head, “No.”
Alec thoughtfully studied Ray’s feet for a moment, then a bright smile appeared on his face. “Guess what! You have Velcro shoes just like mine!”
Ray smiled.
