| A comprehensive child daycare program is part of the future plan for Generations Crossing, with the goal for daily child daycare to be available Summer 2007 (see Our Future). This program will serve a range of ages from infants to school age children, and fulfill our vision of an intergenerational daycare center.
Unlike daycare centers that are segregated by age, Generations Crossing allows each age population to enhance and enrich the quality of life of the other. The proposed joint adult day care and child care facility will provide a modern, natural, and comfortable setting for the unique program developed by Generations Crossing.
For now, adult day care participants have regular interaction with Eastern Mennonite University’s Early Learning Center and the Harrisonburg/Rockingham Child Daycare Center. Additionally, our summer Intergenerational Enrichment Programs for children ages four - ten years old provide an exciting extended opportunity for intergenerational engagement. Children and adult participants celebrate the richness of each age group and strengthen community bonds that connect them. These interactions build a bridge of caring, respect, pride, and dignity between the generations and allow all ages to share their unique gifts.
